Aerovee Baffle Seals

I am looking to improve the baffle seals on my Xenos w/ Aerovee and would like to know what kind of seal material others are using. I am using standard silicone seals on the upper fence, but I am having trouble with the front ones that seal around the cowl openings. I think I would like to use the material that Sonex sells in their kit, but I already have the fence made and installed (from the original builder) and don't need the kit...just the seals. Can someone tell me what material Sonex uses so I can buy it? Optionally, is there any other seal material of a similar design that works better? I am hesitant to put the silicone "flap" style seals on the cowl openings because the flaps are oriented in the wrong direction...causing the flaps to open up and bypass air.

Call Sonex. I am pretty sure that they will sell you the seal material separately from the complete baffle kit.

I used the regular orange flap type seal all around my baffles. By the two cowl inlet openings that metal baffle was long enough that only about a quarter inch of orange seal material was exposed. The flap is pointing down there but since the gap is so close there isn't enough air pressure to force it open. The sonex material wouldn't have made a difference in that location.

I think everyone's seal is a little different since both the baffles and the cowling are custom fit parts. I ended up using a combination of red silicon flap seal (from ACS) and the ‘D’ shaped seal from Sonex. The main reason I used one over the other in any particular location was:

1) The size of the gap (the black "D" shaped seal had a limited depth), and
2) Whether the cowling compressed the gap directly (D seal worked better) or contacted at an angle (flap seal worked better.)
