Rocker arm shaft bolt torque

Postby surfly » Fri Apr 29, 2016 3:30 pm

The Aerovee manual states to torque the shaft end bolts to 25 foot pounds. I feel that this excessive. Any opinions??
Also the chapter on installing the rocker arm shaft assembly states in the beginning that the builder might have to rearrange shims etc. to establish the correct positioning of the rocker arm balls onto the end of the valve stem. I found this to be true and interesting to do. This is not hard and with a little bit of patience is easy to do.

Rocker arm shaft bolt torque

I also had to rearrange shims. No big deal, part of the learning.

I would follow their directions to the letter. Torque values especially, but be sure you use the correct value, inch pounds or foot pounds as specified. At first I confused myself - until I re-read the instructions.
