Yep - i follow your rational and yes one could just end up with "that" friday assembled engine !!. How you treat your engine also has a massive impact on its serviceability and rewards.

Fortunately at this time i don't have to make the decision yet but i am leaning towards the Aerovee Turbo. :roll:

Realistically, any aircraft an Aerovee will mate to is not the cross country hauler or flight trainer that sees a lot of flight hours. Most of us are pressed to put 50 hours a year on our planes. So a 2000hr TBO engine should last 40 years under that mission, I know I won't keep my plane that long. But a 300 hr TBO on a Aerovee will be 6 years. And cost around $500 to do it. That's not bad and seems like most can do it rather quickly. And it would give you a good opportunity to go through things thoroughly.
I'm currently flying behind a 230hr Jab3300 and if I have any issue, I'll probably swap out for an Aerovee Turbo instead of repair the Jab.
