I purchased my AeroVee from a Onex builder who decided to go with a different engine. Because the engine was originally purchased for a Onex, the exhaust extensions supplied are about 10" shorter than the ones supplied for a Sonex. I'm considering using these shorter Onex pipes; it would just require me to setup the cowl like the old VW style with the 2 exhaust ramps that was used before the 2 in 1 setup.
Does anyone see why this would be an issue? Is there a benefit to having the exhaust exit right at the firewall? I notice most other planes have the exhaust exit well forward of the firewall.
Otherwise, if any of you AeroVee owners upgrading to a Turbo have a set of extensions in good condition that you want to sell, I can go that route as well.
