Legacy Cowl Plugs

Hoping someone has a source for Sonex Legacy model cowl plugs. I am using cut-down pool noodles stuffed into the cowl openings for now but they keep falling out. Being spring, our fine feathered friends at the airport are looking for nesting places and they seem to love our airplanes.

So, if anyone has a good source or suggestions for cowl plugs - any information would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Greg.

I just use hunks of uncovered foam, since I'm in a hangar. I use them for preheating.

But, you could easily make covers for those hunks of foam with a sewing machine. I think they could easily be squares, and just jam them in.

I'll get some foam and cut some out that fit better. Thought the pool noodle idea would work, but they fall out. I'm willing to buy some that fit but in the mean time I'll go to Hobby Lobby or Walmart and get some foam stuff. I was successful in making a neat pitot cover using the pool noodle.

Thanks,

Greg.

There is a Mooney style one on Aircraft Spruce that fits. $$$$$$$$$$

HDX Yellow painter's sponges from the paint section of your local home improvement store. They squish into place, drain if they get wet, don't blow out and last over a year in U/V light. Fraction of the price of the Spruce ones.

I found my picture. This is green sponge type foam from Joann Fabrics. It doesn't usually rain in my hangar so I didn't cover the foam.

HDX Sponges look great. Just stuff 'em in there - thanks for the help!
