you where correct !! 2000 RPM
True for the older parallel connected alternator coils. A revision to series connected coils as per Jabiru bulletin, lowers rated output to 17 amps but charges starting at about 1,300 - 1,400 RPM. (The reason for the 17 amp rating, which does not seem logical based on simple math, has been discussed and debated at length on Jabiru forums.) I think new Jabiru engines come connected that way, and my CAMit 3300 on which I elected to have the old flywheel mounted alternator to save weight vs the CAMit standard 40 amp external alternator, seems to be connected that way. Note: If CAMit's current testing proves out, I will likely convert mine new external 15 amp alternator that is intended to save weight, charge at idle RPMs, improve damping and reduce stress on flywheel connection. 15 amp seems to be plenty with modern avionics and LED lighting.
