I've got my lights painted.

I also painted the rib bay and light brackets black.

For the wingtip lights I have the Whelen Microburst III (combined nav/strobe/tail lights) to be mounted on the pods from www.gaugepods.com.

Is there a preferred location on the wing tip to install this assembly for the best visibility of the lights (especially the 'tail' light) e.g. top center of the wing tip, middle of the wing tip, forward of the spar, behind the spar etc. I've seen various installs looking over this site and other builder sites. I was thinking of best location to meet the FAA required visibility arcs for these lights, though I gather there is some question as to
getting the airplane approved for night flight if the lights are not TSO'd. I'm not planning to fly at night, but would like to meet the lighting visibility requirements if possible.

Thanks,

Bud,
Welcome to the forums! Near the top definitely-so the light is not masked from above. I plan to mount just aft of the spar and pick up the tip rib with the forward mounting hole. That should be fine fore and aft.

Not too productive lately. I hooked my LEDs to the dimmer and tried them out.
