What's Not Included

Just curious if anyone has compiled a "what's not included" list?

My idea is to use such a list for my adventure at AirVenture 24 (AKA mega shopping trip).

Some parts and pieces are obvious, like avionics, etc. But what about all the miscellaneous stuff?

TIA

Sounds painful. I don't recommend doing that. The cool thing is ACS will ship stuff via USPS for when you need 3 bolts or something.

What I did was to keep a running list of stuff I needed, and when I needed something now I would pull the trigger.

Aircraft Spruce has the needed hardware listed on their website. Buy the bolts with care as they tend to be too long or too short.

So I've started a list. Actually in EXCEL - I'm weird that way :)

Nut plates and hardware.
Fuel line and fittings.
Fuel filter.
Fuel shutoff.
Fuel tank vent and fittings.
Pitot/ Static line and fittings.
Mixture control.j
Switches.
Breakers (or fuse block).
USB/ Lighter outlet.
Ground bus bar (probably will make).
Power bus bar.
Avionics bus bar.
Battery.
Landing light.
N numbers.
Cable clamps.
Ring terminals.
Wire, Coax, and Cable.
Seat belts.
Starter solenoid.
Master solenoid.
Voltage regulator.
Headset Jack's.
Position lights (maybe).
Strobe (maybe).

Feel free to add to the list. I left off avionics because that's a beast that needs its own zoo.

I'll format and organize my EXCEL spreadsheet, and make a PDF available to anyone that asks.

My A model kit came with a fuel shutoff.

I have a ground bus under the panel, which is just an aluminum angle. This is for avionics. It connects to another aluminum angle under a starter bolt which is the ground for everything under the cowl.

You don't really need a power bus. Power goes to the main breaker and then feeds all the other breakers. I have the output of my master going to the starter and the main breaker.

The sky-tek starter that comes with the Aerovee kit has an integral relay. I just have a pushbutton going to the start terminal.

I really like my mechanical master switch instead of a conventional electric solenoid. Saves some weight and saves 1 amp - 5% of your Aerovee output.

A VR also comes in the Aerovee kit. I highly recommend the John Deere regulator which you can find in the electrical section of the forum.

My ICS came with jacks.

Bob, you have a good list started. I'll add a few components that are on my list.

ELT (Unless your building a Onex)
Battery Minder
Seats
CO2 Detector
Flight Control Grip
Oil Cooler
Oil Cooler hoses
Fire Sleeve
Flap Switch (If you have electric flaps)

From another thread we learned that one item not included with the kit is motivation ! Many have it to start with and others need some to help them finish ...
