Seat Belts?

Postby dboeshaar » Thu Dec 14, 2023 9:36 pm

I can see how the inside seat belts attach to the center but how do I bolt the outside seat belts?

Do I drill a hole in the fuselage and put the bolts on the outside?

Pictures?

advTHANKSance

Not sure if the classic and desirable A model is the same, but I think maybe mine has a bolt through the side. It's hidden by the wing. I'll take a picture next time I'm at the hangar.

I'm pretty sure the bolt goes through the side and the bolt head is outside under the wing.

Yup!

That is exactly how it looks. I forgot it is hidden by the wing.

Thanx!

So should I get my seat belts sooner, rather than later?

Crow Safety sells Custom Seat belts for the Sonex. Regular automotive buckle. If you are not aerobatic, they look good to me. I got the shoulder pads too.

https://crowsafetygear.com

They do sell the Kam Lock for the RV line, so maybe they can custom build something for our aerobatic pilots.

My Sonex belts are pretty automotive looking, except there are metal loops that the lap tang goes through before it goes into the buckle. So in theory if you pull the buckle to release it, the shoulder harnesses get released too. Those are fine for aerobatics though they are no longer available.

Do the Crow shoulder harnesses have loops that the lap belts thread through? Hard to tell from the picture.

Are you looking to use belts/harnesses other than what's supplied in the kit?
At least I assume the "B" kits come with restraints.
