Rotec alternator mod Jabiru 3300 and Waiex B?

Postby alaskawild » Tue Aug 27, 2019 8:18 pm

Hello everyone. Need help. I'm looking at using a Rotec alternator conversion on a 3300 Jabiru in a Waiex B. Any thoughts on if it will fit? There is one thread on here that I have found in which a gentleman advises he has purchased a Rotec unit for a Waiex B project but there is no info on if it fits.
Thanks in advance

Hi Sam,
I know that the standard bracket from rotec wont work with a legacy sonex . It will interfer with the engine mount. Dont know about the b models. Let us know if you order one and how it fits. When cammit came on the scene they also had a belt driven alternator 40-45 amps , and a special bracket for the sonex legacy aircraft. Does any one have one of these? Of so could you post pics of the bracket? I waited too long to order the alt upgrade and bracket from camitt before they folded. What a shame.

Michael thanks for the reply. I didn't think it would be possible with the legacy aircraft but the firewall has changed somewhat with the B model. I was hoping that someone had already tried it or was in the process. I just got an email from Rotec addressing the same question I sent them. They couldn't give me an answer but offered to sell me the upgrade and they would cover shipping and if it didn't work send it back. Not to crazy about going that route. You would think someone would know. Oh well I'll keep looking.

Thanks Again.

Hi Sam,
There are a few cammits flying in legacy aircraft. Hopefully one will respond and send us pics. It can be done either modify the existing bracket or make a new one. Let us know when u find out. I do have a rotec upgraded alt. , new , bought second hand with the bracket. Never have tackled that job yet tho.

Michael hello. Yes hopefully someone will post some pics. Do you happen to know the overall length of the alternator and adapter plate for the Rotec mod by chance?
I could at least take a few measurements.

Thanks

Sam
