SNB Wing attach angles

Postby pfhoeycfi » Sun Aug 25, 2019 6:53 pm

The plans had me rivet the aft wing attach angles to the side panels. Plans said not to rivet the forward angles in place. Now I have to updrill and then countersink the attach angles as part of the tunnel assembly. The forward ones will be easy ...in my drill press. Any ideas on how to do the rear angles while secured to the side panel? I do not know why the plans had me rivet these angle in place prior to this step...no need...the could have been completely prepped first. I am very reluctant to drill out all the rivets that secure the angles to the side skin and longerons.

suggestions & advice welcome...

SNB Wing attach angles

Hey Peter,

The only thing I can think of is that maybe you missed a step. Those rear angles shouldn’t be riveted until you have everything countersunk and matched up with the gusset plates and aft tunnel. The rear angles and aft tunnel should all be riveted in one piece. Easiest thing I’d suggest is drill it out and do it out of the plane then install as an assembly. Any questions please feel free to PM me.
