Gascolator location, Rotax mount

Any thoughts on where to install a gascolator? The Rotax mount gets in the way if you want to be able to drain the water trap so I am thinking of running a remote fuel drain. Has anybody done this or have any ideas on how best to achieve this? Another thought I had which would be simpler, is to have the gascolator inside the cab just near the forward wing spar and have the drain go out through the floor but I'm not sure if that is acceptable practice.

I would not consider bringing the gascolator behind the firewall. If it develops a leak it's now in the cockpit plus the extra fuel line running through the cabin exposed to damage. Best to find a place on the firewall and run a remote drain if you must.

Hi Murray
On my Sonex a Jab 3300. I welded a simple bracket to the engine mount to support the gascolator. The drain potrudes through a hole in the cowl.

On my previous build, a Sonerai. There was a lack of space on the engine side, I mounted the gascolator to the firewall, cockpit side. Since the gascolator was mounted a couple of hundred mm above the floor. I used a tube from the bottom of the gascolator to the drain valve on the floor. It worked fine.
