Lopsided Glare Shield

Does anyone else's glare shield look like this? Everything fits fine, but it's a bit wonky in the front/center area. I suppose from shipping or sitting around my garage for the last two years it just isn't quite flat.

I thought that the fuel tank would fit tightly enough against the bottom of the glare shield to force it into the correct shape, but there's actually like 1/2" of space between them so that didn't fix it. Perhaps now that I know there will be some room I can rivet a small channel to the underside of the glare shield to give it some rigidity.

Just curious if anyone else ran into the same thing!

Yes, My glare shield is the same. I am sure it's the way it was manufactured, probably not quite precise where it is curved. I haven't figured out a solution yet but will most likely put up with it as the instrument panel helps keep it close to where it should be, speaking of which, the panel doesn't quite fit properly either so I had to allow the attach angle to take up some of the space around the curve

Ditto...Mine is exactly the same. I'm probably just going to ignore it at this point. It's possible once you put a covering on the glare shield other than paint, it may become less noticeable as well. I think I ended up with a 1/16 gap on each side of my instrument panel right at the bottom. It fit the curve of the glareshirld otherwise but I remember having to use a lot of pressure to get it into position before I fit my bottom support angles.

Interesting that there are others... I'm working on the fuel tank now so before I install it for good I'll see if I can figure out a way to straighten out the glare shield a bit. I'll report back with whatever I come up with.

I fixed it! I had an extra tank stop angle in my kit for whatever reason, so I used that as a reinforcement. I had to cut it down quite a bit and taper it so it wouldn't touch the top of the tank, but I think it made a decent improvement.

Here's the shape I cut the angle into:

Here's what the glare shield looks like now with it installed:
