Exhaust Routing with SonexB/Jab3300/Trike Landing Gear

Postby JFYrineo » Thu Sep 07, 2023 9:06 am

I’m just beginning to look at my SonexB, with a Jab3300 engine, and tricycle landing gear. Seems the exhaust pipe on the left (looking forward from the cockpit) is interfering with the nose wheel strut. I also need to modify my lower cowling for the exhaust outlets AND modify for the Nose wheel strut but everything looks to be occupying the same real estate. Looking for examples and photos of what others with this same aircraft configuration & set up have had to do

Got this response from Sonex…..photos attached

Hi James,

“I was going through some past emails with similar questions. I’ve sent along some pictures from that email, and instructions to consult Drawing SNX-P13.

Do you have this drawing? Looks like your exhaust will need to be cut and re-welded. This became necessary when Jabbiru discontinued their older exhaust in favor of the

current system.

I hope this helps, let me know if you need more.

Nathan”
