Wing removal

Going to take the bird home for the winter since I wasn't able to find a hangar. Transporting on a trailer with the wings folded is doable, but removing the wings seems safer.
Removing the wings looks like a doddle with only the one 3/8" bolt to remove, but just in case, I thought I'd check withe you guys and see if there's something I should know.
I figured I would leave the locking pins engaged with the tip supported until I had the bolt out, then disengage the locking pins to free up the wing panel.
Sound sensible?

I'm not sure I would do that. There could be some load on it and removing the bolt could cause it to suddenly move. I always folded it up 10-20 degrees to make sure the lower pin hole was completely clear of the wing and the wing was supported. There should be photos in my Onex thread. Re-install it the same way. I used a Harbor Freight rolling cart and had no problem putting it on and taking it off by myself. I probably did it 20 times during construction.

I'm with Scott. I'd install the bolt first when installing the wings, and remove the bolt last when removing the wings. I didn't do it that many times, but it's pretty easy with either a support, or someone to hold the wingtip, or both.

Agree with all above, though I didn't raise wing at all. I used a rolling table and used styrofoam on top of table. Roll under wing till wing is supported . Using a drift pin will greatly help in lining up holes when reinstalling wing.
