I'm very interested in starting a onex build and have a question to those that have done it. I want to do as much of the build as possible in my walkout basement, before moving it to the garage. How far along can you build before it would no longer fit, or be easily disassembled enough to fit, through a standard exterior doorway?

If you have a straight out exit from your basement where you don't have to negotiate any turns you will be able to assemble the forward and rear fuse with the turtle deck and join them together.Your spars and wings are also not a problem but you will have to wait till you move to bigger quarters before you can put the spar through and attach it.Otherwise you can get a heck of a lot done in your basement.
I started mine in the basement but because it was not a straight out exit I could not join the fuses or attach the turtle deck.

Mike, that's great news, thanks! I have a very large basement room with a door that goes directly outside (no turns), so it sounds like I could indeed start there. What are the exterior dimensions of the largest width/height of the fuselage? My doorway has 35" width clearance.

Width of forward fuse is 28" with the 1st rib riveted on the sides.The height at the top of the turtle deck just behind the seat is almost 36" so you have more than adequate clearance :D

I'm getting in here a little late, but, the landing gear is wider than the fuse. You may be able to angle it through a doorway.

Thanks, I did end up getting a Waiex instead. I'm still building in the basement, but am going to knock out the doorway to make a french door entrance when the time comes.
