Onex Upper Cowl

Has anyone experienced a problem with the top cowl fit? My lower cowl fits perfectly but the forward, top, left cowl overhangs the lower cowl significantly while the right side fits well. I am cautious of using too much "persuasion" to make it fit. Tech Support tells me it will be OK on the day!
Any suggestions/solutions?

I didn't have that problem, but, is your bottom cowl tucked in under the valve cover gasket flange or outside the flange? Mine are both outside and the top fits very well.

Thanks for feedback but I don't have the engine assembled/fitted yet, but will be done in the next few months and hoping that when the rocker cover cutouts in the cowls are done it will relieve some of the top cowl stress and make it fit better. Otherwise the bottom cowl fits perfectly.

Now starting on the cowling and have this question. Are the marked valve cover cut outs on the cowling halves the same for the Aerovee, Humml, Revmaster and Great Plains engines. Would like to hear from each of the engine owners of modifications if any. Thanks.

Be careful with the cut-outs. They are not accurate. If I remember right they are marked correct for one side only.

I would make a cut out in poster board that fits the rocker covers----then tape it to the front of the Fuse sides and mark it carefully---Take the rocker covers off -rough cut a hole for the rocker covers ---put the cowl under the template and mark --Cut smaller till it fits--

Good advise Merle, thanks. I only have the canopy and cowl left and they seem to be the most challenging to my skill level.

Greetings John H, This week as I work on my cowl install I find that I have the same problem you experienced. All worked fine with the lower cowl although it is a tad narrower than my firewall. The right side of the top cowl fits as it should and the left front side overlaps the lower by about 3/8 inch. How did you resolve this fit? Also, did you have a gap at the windscreen?
