107X is clean and a beautiful airplane with a clean digital panel - I'm just too fat. I haven't looked at other Onex's, but it would be interesting to tabulate the actual empty weight of Onex's to see how close to the 600 lbs mentioned below builders actually achieve. Here is the response I received from Sonex to my inquiry about flying the Onex over gross:

"As the designers of the Onex we set the gross weight at 950 pounds regardless of whether aerobatics are flown. We do not endorse arbitrary gross weight increases for any of our designs as it degrades the intended strength margins, performance and, therefore, safety margins of the design. A well-built Onex should weight about 600 pounds empty, leaving a useful load of 350 pounds. If the airplane you are looking at is heavy, you can look for add-ons that can be removed to reduce its empty weight.

Mine is simple and basically stock. Additions are an EchoUAT, Sandia 165 transponder, independent toe brakes, Anson Canopy latch, and AveoFlash lights. It has about 10 pounds of paint and primer on it. I made the upholstery and it weighs about 3 pounds. It has an Odyssey 680 battery which is not the lightest. My empty weight is 620 pounds. Without those additions, I probably would have been right at 600. I weigh 160. With full fuel on a standard day, I get about 800 fpm for the first few thousand tapering off to around 750 thru 4000 or so. It has full length wing tips and a stock AeroVee with maybe a smidge more than 8:1.

I snapped this EFIS shot for Lou the other day. It was a bit bouncy. You can see the nose is momentarily above the horizon but the VSI shows slight sink. This is a typical speed and fuel flow for this power setting. Full throttle will go to about 3650 and a little over 150 indicated. It has 40.2 hours on it now :)

Do you have any pictures of the Anson canopy lock as you installed it on your OneX?

My OneX 0137 came in at 613 lbs. No paint as yet, scheduled. MGL Extreme EFIS and V16 comm, Garmin 320 transponder, Echo ADSB. Standard battery. My weight is 160 lbs, had to add nearly 80 lbs of ballast to get to 950 lbs for performance tests. To do that I fabricated reinforced storage area behind seat bottom area just off the fuselage floor. I hated the extra weight,(20 lb. lead bars in secured canvas bag), took them out as soon as stall and initial takeoff tests were complete.

Those are great numbers. Temps, revs, and fuel burn look really nice. It's apparent you did a really good job putting that thing together.
