Hi Jerry,

I see you are building a OneX. There hasn't been much conversation on here about added fuel for the OneX that I'm aware of. Here is a plan for the Sonex/Waiex. Don't know if an adaptation of this would work for the OneX ...

I'm considering two options that have been done by others, behind the seat as mentioned above and tubular in the wing. Lots of challenges but certainly feasible.

Years ago, there was a guy in Texas that was making wing tube tanks for the Sonex. He doesn't make them anymore. Jan E. from Viking put them in his Viking Sport and indicated he might sell them to Sonex builders. Haven't heard anything in a while about that.

My waiex is a bit tail heavy and putting the aux tank behind the seat just isn't an option for me. But if someone comes up with wing tube tanks, I'm all ears.

Back when I was nuts, I considered either tip tanks or tube tanks for my Hummelbird. Doesn't seem that hard. I am over that now.

Remember the Sonex "Reality Check"?

With an AeroVee and standard fuel, it still has more range than I can navigate straight or want to sit.

The thought has crossed my mind to plan a ridiculously long cross-country with a Turtle-Pac bladder tank. Not sure how it would fit in the passenger seat of my dual-stick Sonex or how it would fit in your Onex though.

The tank I have now is about all I care to endure before wanting to get out for a stroll to the men's room. Still the idea of some extra fuel is intriguing and I have, like many others, looked at options. The Turtle-Pac is a good choice if traveling solo. Stuart Trist used this same idea with a jerry can:

The site above does not belong to Steve, who I believe, was the one that came up with the design (see previous link in this thread). Because I have no rearward CG issues this would work for me. I also considered just adding an 8" X 33" Polyethylene Buggy Fuel Tank (8 gallons) behind the seat between the verticals:

But in the end I'll probably just leave is alone, stop more often for fuel and make some new friends. 8-)
