107X is clean and a beautiful airplane with a clean digital panel - I'm just too fat. I haven't looked at other Onex's, but it would be interesting to tabulate the actual empty weight of Onex's to see how close to the 600 lbs mentioned below builders actually achieve. Here is the response I received from Sonex to my inquiry about flying the Onex over gross:
"As the designers of the Onex we set the gross weight at 950 pounds regardless of whether aerobatics are flown. We do not endorse arbitrary gross weight increases for any of our designs as it degrades the intended strength margins, performance and, therefore, safety margins of the design. A well-built Onex should weight about 600 pounds empty, leaving a useful load of 350 pounds. If the airplane you are looking at is heavy, you can look for add-ons that can be removed to reduce its empty weight.
