Onex Tie Down

Postby pilotyoung » Mon Mar 08, 2021 12:18 pm

I bought a flying Onex in early September. Last weekend I flew it to Georgia for the weekend and tied it down for the first time. My airplane was built with holes in the levers that lock the wings in place for tie downs. As I tied it down, it occurred to me that a strong wind might lift the aircraft and bend one or both of those levers.

I am wondering if anyone has had problems with the levers getting bent from tying the Onex down? Also I am wondering what other tie down solutions people have developed?

If the skin was not on my wings, I can think of some easy ways to add strong tie downs. But with the aircraft completed, I am at a loss except to use the holes in the wing levers.

What do you all think?

I tie mine down by tying a rope around the tires. Works well.
