I thought I’d start a thread for some of us in the Midwest who have discussed doing a fly out lunch.
At the Sonex Builders BBQ a couple of the Indiana guys brought it up. (apologies - I am terrible with names and was doing a lot of chatting with different people)
Ideally we would all meet up somewhere, but there is also a restaurant on my home base 1C5 if it came to that.
Who’s interested?

I’d love to as long as we go to a place that doesn’t require a transponder. Any place in north central Indiana that has a restaurant on the field?

We have one in mind outside the Chicago O’Hare Class Bravo/Mode C veil. Let’s see if that works out and keep looking for others. Please PM me your email address so I can start a list.

I'm game Robbie. KC is about 2.5 hrs southwest of Chicago. Anywhere in the general vicinity should be doable for me.

Hey Robbie, I was the one talking to you about a fly in/out! There are a few places around. I have heard good things about the restaurant at Rochelle, il or there is a decent spot in coldwater, Michigan. Muncie,In has a restaurant on the field as well but I think its hit or miss if the food is good. I would also be happy to host a flyin and grill some burgers at Kgsh Goshen, IN! If we wait until sept.-Oct. There are a couple guys I know of that are finishing engine conversions and maintenance that may be able to attend. -Jake Logan

Muncie is more miss than hit, unfortunately...it's very close to me, my brother works in Muncie, so I'm there somewhat regularly.
Columbus, IN has a restaurant that is much better. Cincinnati Lunken does too (but it's under CVG class B, so transponder required). Mattoon, IL has a decent restaurant...nothing great, but it wasn't specifically bad.
Also a really good place across the street from Eagle Creek airport, but that's under Indy's class C.

KPCW - Erie-Ottawa International or more commonly referred to as Port Clinton along Lake Erie is nice! The Tin Goose Diner has been good to me on all of my visits.

Hey Jake - thanks. I’m terrible with names.
I think we should do one in August and then try again in September and October.
I’m gonna let others organize this! Let’s just pick a place, date, and time and give it a shot. It’d be a lot of fun to get together.
