I looked on your website at the photo of your #5 former. I see what you are talking about. Here is the process I used to make mine. I took the blank and sandwiched in the forming block and bolted it together. Then I hammered it to about 45 degrees. I did not use the edge of the block for the final angle. Then removed it from the blocks and worked the flanges with fluting pliers and the hammer while holding the former flat on the table. The angle of the flange varies along it's length.
