Slowly fly off my 40 hrs. About 17 so far. I’m interested in knowing if other people can trim their aircraft with full flaps to 70 mph hands off? I have to use a considerable amount of back pressure to hold speed with full trim. I have the plans built small trim tap on the elevator.. thanx billy

Hi Billy,

I built my Onex a little nose heavy. I pulled the last 10 pounds of balllast out of the baggage compartment yesterday. I ran out of nose up trim too. I never need full nose down so I pushed the trim lever most of the way forward, loosened the wire nut, pushed the lever full forward, and re-tightened the wire nut. I'll see if that was enough next flight.

Thanx Wes. My plane pretty much can’t be loaded out of CG. So I don’t think adding or removing weight will do much. I’m going to try pulling power down wind and just put all the trim in then and see what flap addition on base and final do to speed management.

Hi Billy,

In my Cleanex I have enough trim (standard trim tab on the elevator) to keep the pressure on the stick neutral up to 20º of flaps. Once I go full flaps (30º) I need just a little bit of back pressure but it isn't much. Might be that you have the CG a bit forward. When you start doing gross weight testing (I used 200 lbs of sand in the right seat) you will notice the difference with the CG shift. The other difference has to do with how much fuel is in the tank. With full fuel I can feel the forward CG ... especially if I'm solo with no baggage in the rear.

New member here and I know this is an old thread but where did you order your titanium legs from in CT?
Were they able to certify that the titanium was annealed grade5 titanium?
