If you're not burned out welding on the tank yet, you might add a tab at the top or sides to "pin" it to the glare-shield with rivets or a bolt. The plans call for angle brackets riveted to the glare-shield to keep it from moving backward, but doesn't do anything for forward motion. If the tank ever needs to come out, those factory brackets will be a beeatch to remove.

While you're at it, a tab or two across the back of the tank makes for a nice strain relief for the instruments/radios or a place to attach wire bundles.

Just a note of caution. When welding any tabs or ears to an aluminum fuel tank be sure they are done in a way that will not flex the tank when in flight or landing and result in a crack and leak.

Thanx Dave. No brackets on tank. Bracket on glare shield and upper firewall with rubber crutch tips on them. Lower strap hold all in place.

Fitting modified instrument panel cross piece. This will be able to be removed with panel. Not bolted in yet but will have two bolts straight through cross piece and two bolts virtually through bracket. A full. 7 1/2 inchs of useable space for instruments.
