Hi all.Any one flying with a prince prop behind an Aerovee?
Any issues or would you recommend them.I don't think it's a huge sale though the carbon fibre one looks like a good buy. http://www.barnstormers.com/ad_detail.php?ID=849979
Thanks and have a great Christmas.

I'm flying behind a Prince P Tip 54 X 44 prop on my AeroVee powered Waiex. It's a great prop and I've been thrilled with it ever since day 1. I'm fortunate that I live close to the Prince factory, so after talking to Lonnie I drove up one day and picked one up. He's an absolutely first class gentleman and makes a first class product.

At this point, some people are using the new elliptical prop with a lot of success, and a lot of others are very happy with the P tip prop. The flex built into the P tip style of prop offers good climb performance while still giving good cruise numbers.

I highly recommend them!

That's a good deal, I've just emailed Lonnie to see what he recommends for my 2.4L "Hummelish" VW engine on my Sonex.
I don't know much about props but I'm not sure the 54x44 which is recommended for the 2180cc AeroVee is suitable for a 2400cc Hummel as well. I know Dave Clay has a 54x46 Ed Sterba prop on his 2.4L Hummel powered Sonex.
See what Lonnie says...

Here's Lonnie's response
The suggested propeller for your application will be 54" diameter 48" pitch either the P-TIP or Elliptical Propeller. The cost for our Wood P-TIP Propeller will be $932.00. For the Better Performance Most Durable Carbon Fiber P-TIP propeller $1179.00. Optional Leading Edge Protection for either propeller will be $100.00. The Christmas Special price for the Elliptical will be honored until the end of December 2013.

I'm assuming the prices ($932/$1179) are not the Christmas special prices, they look like the original prices.
I've asked him to clarify.

Here's the response on the Christmas prices:
We are only offering the Elliptical Tip for the Christmas Special, The Pitch Changing, Votex tip Carbon Fiber P-TIP is not discounted. Here are the prices for the Christmas Special; The cost for your application for the Casler/Force one hub would be $670.00, if you like we can add the Urethane Leading Edge Protection (recommended) for $100.00, we also offer a leading edge kit, customer installed for $38.00 with the propeller, this can but used with or without the urethane protector to further protect the propeller.

$670 is a very good deal I think.

Indeed $262 saved will more than pay for your shipping cost I would think.I decided to e-mail him also and oddly he suggested the 54" with 46" pitch and I said I would be using either the hummel 85hp or the
Aerovee 80 hp
I e-mailed him back and told him i would purchase the prop if he could bring it to Air Venture next year and I would bring it home from there. That will save me the shipping and broker fees also .
I will await his response.
Cheers,

After reading these posts, especially from Mike Farley, I ordered a P-tip, anticipating a future AeroVee purchase. Mike, I would be interested in discussing your AeroVee, off line.
