Got a new wooden prop for the Sonex. Have a Force one hub on the Aerovee. The indent on the back of the prop is 1/4 of an inch small. Is the Force one hub wider or did I get the wrong prop?

You have the Sensenich wood prop from Sonex? I have the Sensenich W54JV5L-44G (glass), and I was fabricating the spacer yesterday in preparation for starting the fiberglass cowl installation, the Sonex plans show the spacer cut out on the back side to fit over the prop hub, and I checked the back of the prop, it is smooth with no indentation at all. So in this case the hub diameter would not matter. Unless my prop is incorrectly built, which I was wondering about because the plans say there should be 1/8" to 3/16" gap between prop (and fabricated spacer) and cowl. In my case this does not make sense, as the rear of my prop, with no indentation, will be entirely in front of the hub.
My Sonex hub OD is 5 3/4".

We're in the process of changing our Aerovee to a Force One hub and ran into this, too. The Force One hub has a 2" centering pilot, 3/8" deep, while our Aerovee one had nothing, only the 6 bushings for the bolts. The hole on the Sensenich is only 1.75", so we're going to machine it to open the central hole up. Same issue on our Sterba prop.

When Ed Sterba built my prop he built it as a 54X46 for my AeroVee. I have another 54X44 prop that was carved to fit the Great Plains crank and there is a area of removed wood on the aft face of the prop to accommodate the Great Plains hub. When Sterba builds a prop he will ask what engine it is going on because he knows that they are different. Can't speak to others.
