Anybody else disappointed in the direction Kitplanes has taken since the merger?

Do tell!

I gave up my Kitplanes subscription many years ago, when I started to notice the same old articles/topics being rehashed for the umteenth time. For many years I did enjoy it and learnt a lot.

Flying has taken it over and turned it into a "Reader's Digest" version of Sport Aviation. Worse than that, it now comes out only every other month.

I agree it seemed like the same old read at times, but isn't that to be expected as a builder matures and no longer needs the training wheels? But where is a "newbie" supposed to go now for that (what seems to us) simple, David Copperfield, way to pull a rivet in a corner? At least now the handful of builders that want to fabricate a carbon fiber racing tank are represented in the pages.

The contributors weren't always touting an award-winning altimeter either. Just well informed "Homies" I could identify with and live vicariously through despite my lack of talent. You know who you are.

I've regretted re-subscription ever since the November-December issue showed up January 3rd. I'll miss talking to Paul Dye in the Kitplanes booth at Sun-N-Fun.

Kitplanes, Flying and several other aviation magazines are published by Firecrown Media. Google them and you will see why the content has changed. My subscription ends in about a month and I’m not renewing. My money is well spent on an EAA membership that includes hints for home builders, seminars webinars and a ton of info for building your dream machine.

I abandoned Flying when the conglomerate took over. Kitplanes came as a surprise. Money talks I guess.
