Hi All, Where is the 25 Deg up and 20 Deg down travel referenced to? I've been
using the top surface of the horiz stab to the top surface of the elevator. But
because the elevator is a triangle, will the down travel measurement be correct?
Thanks!

I believe the measurements are to the chord of the elevator....so you will need to adjust your measurements by 5 degrees.

I think Frank is correct, need to adjust by 5 deg if working from the top surfaces only. For elevator neutral the top surface is down 5 deg in relation to the stabiliser top surface. With top skin of elevator aligned with the top skin of the stabiliser go up 20 deg to achieve 25 deg up. For down with top surfaces aligned go down 25 deg to achieve 20 deg.

SNX-T01. is the drawing. For the 25 deg up it is shown as a 160 deg arc from top surface to top surface, stabiliser to elevator.

Thank you Frank and Steve! This is good information! I totally confused myself with
all the different measurements! I think I'm good now, the elevator is set properly
and on to the next challenge!

Interesting note. The local (MKE) FSDO said they are not happy about clearance issues with the elevator pushrod where it goes through the rear bulkhead and that a lot of builds have the bolt that connects the pushrod to the elevator drive horn interfere with full aft travel because it hits on angle before the stop hits.

Yes, that is a problem on my plane as well. I had to grind away a LOT of
aluminum, so the bolt wouldn't hit, before the stop did.
I'd like to figure out a doubler to re-enforce the area before I have my next
inspection.
