There was some talk last year about trying B-type outlet vents on legacy cowls, and even some hope that it would improve climb CHT's, but I can't recall seeing any completions. I'm coming up on that point myself, thought it might be a worthwhile mod. Would it even be wise to try, given the (slight) difference in cowl geometry?

Didnt sonex have them for an exhaust outlet on one of their factory planes?

Paul LaRue (Paul's Sonex 1509 in the photo album) has them I believe.

Well, they're "experimental" aircraft, after all, so I pulled the trigger and ordered a set from Sonex. Anything that'll improve cooling is important to me. I live in a fairly warm part of the country - California's central valley - and I'm building the turbo Aerovee, so heat dissipation's a significant concern. I'll save the cut-out panels, though, in case it's necessary to go back to the "stock" approach! It's only fiberglass.
