How difficult is lower seat mod?

Hello all,

I may have found my Sonex. But it doesn't have the lower seat pan mod. While I'm just 6 foot, I noticed that I only had a couple inches between top of head and canopy without my headset. Net, I'm pretty darn close. So, I think I need the lower seat pan.

Is this something that's difficult to accomplish after the fact for a builder newbie?

Thanks
John

If leg room seems okay, worth looking at Clarity Aloft head sets. They do not go over the head and require no extra headroom. Have two pair, would not fly (or fit) without them. There is also a lower cost competitor. The lowered seat mod mostly increases leg room but does not provide much increased headroom since you will be sitting more upright.

I disagree. I get no extra legroom from my lowered seat mod, but I do gain headroom. I'm 6' and wear a David Clark headset.

The lowered seat mod changes a great deal of the seat and controls in the cockpit. I'm sure it's doable, but I think it would be a daunting task. Plans are here:

Yikes - certainly easier (and cheaper) to get a couple Clarity Alofts :)
