new fuel tank - legacy sonex

Postby sonex1332 » Sat Jun 30, 2018 4:34 pm

Just got my new fuel tank. No pre-installed fittings. You just drill and install the fittings you want. Hopefully it will be easier and quicker.

Sonex suggests not installing rhe vent until the tank is installed. I'm considering just venting the cap. Anyone else dealt with the "new" tank yet ?

Take this with a grain of salt from a non-builder and only a 20ish hr owner. I have mine with the rubber compression type gas cap and vented from the side and down under the plane via a 1/4" ish tube. Many people talk of splashing av gas etc onto the windshield and etching it. If you do any acrobatics or even catch a big down draft causing a slight neg G you may get some gas splash through the cap vent that gets blown onto the windshield before it dries. I could be completely wrong, but I like the vent the way I have it. Just something to think about for something that is relatively easy to do in the grand scheme of things
