What maintenance do you guy's do to the rod end bearings on the controls??

LPS-2 would be a good choice.

A: For metal-to-metal rod ends and spherical bearings, a thin layer of grease applied occasionally to ball outside diameter will assist in extending the life of these products. Rod ends and spherical bearings that are Teflon lined are self-lubricating and are designed to be maintenance free and should not be lubricated.

Personally I stay away from grease simply because it picks up dirt and grime very readily. I like things like LPS-2 or Wurth HHS-K. Note that LPS-2 is indicated by the manufacturer for "indoor" use.

Thanks. I had been told that rod ends should be repacked with grease occasionally but that seemed like an over kill.

Yeah that might be overkill, LPS-2 is sufficient in my view.

Maybe after some years you can consider doing this:
