When to rivet the wing root doublers in their final position

I have trimmed my doublers and have about a 1/16th gap between the edge of the doublers and the side of the fuselage.
But I am reluctant to rivet them in their final position for fear that I won't be able to "wiggle" the wings enough to get them on and off.
Have other builders found it necessary to "wiggle" the wings to get them on or off? And if so, how and when have they fixed the doublers?

Tim,
We had to wiggle ours a bit. No harm was done. Our doublers are fixed. Really you just have to get enough motion to get them moving a bit.
