Setting up two throttles

Postby Mbiseli » Thu Nov 13, 2014 2:47 pm

I am building a sonex trainer, and would like to set up two throttles. One on the left side using the sonex throttle quadrant and a push pull throttle in the center. I talked to sonex when I got the sonex throttle, they said it was easy to do. Has any one done this and how did they do it?

I would suggest calling sonex and asking. The plane they use for transition training has a dual throttle setup. I thing it was as simple as hooking a normal push/pull throttle to the arm of the sonex quadrant and running the cable to the other side of the cockpit.

I'm pretty sure the factory Sonex sport trainer has dual throttles, you can see them in the "turbo time" video, the black knob on the right side. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AG3AmNn5CtY

I had a good look at the Sonex dual throttle setup and talked to Joe about it. This was earlier in the year at the workshop I went to. The primary throttle is on a quadrant on the left. The secondary throttle is on the far right, it loops around in a generous radius under the panel/tank and connects to the quadrant. Simple and elegant.
