Fuselage fairlead part numbers

While ordering the hardware for my Sonex fuselage, I came across something I thought I would post here for others.

I was working from the Sonex hardware list I found here:

The plans call for a fairlead with a 1/4" ID x 3/4" OD x 3/4" long. This is on plans page SNX-F27.

I ordered off the parts numbers shown on the list and from Aircraft Spruce I received part #40071-00 as shown on the Sonex hardware list - the link to that part is

These parts do not have a small opening - the inside diameter is wrong. It was my error in not confirming this when I placed the order (which will teach me not to order hardware late at night, tired, while having a conversation with my wife).

My guess is Spruce changed a part number and it was not shown correctly on the hardware list on the Sonex web site - I did not check Wicks or other vendors.

It appears the correct part is this:

When I asked Kerry about this he mentioned updating the hardware list, and confirmed the size of the fairlead listed is the correct size, but if anyone else is at the point of ordering hardware, they may want to verify they order the correct fairlead part.

An update - Sonex updated their hardware list with the correct part number for Spruce.
