Free 3D printables: fuel filler, navlights, flaps, ties

Postby kevinh » Wed Aug 30, 2017 7:56 pm

Hi ya'll,

So I've made some things as part of making my Sonex. Alas, I don't think I have the time/bandwidth to print them myselves but if you have a friend (or library or a company like shapeways) to print them, feel free. If you do print any of these and you wanna paypal me a small donation to my beer fund then that's fine too. No warranty provided - your milage my vary ;-).

I'll probably be making some more things over time and I'll keep updating this post.

Cable ties
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2508967
Useful for attaching cable bundles with a 1/8" pop rivet (I like these better than the adhesive ties).

Fuel filler drool catcher
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2508983 editable 3d model here: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/a35e44bc18a6cfb5c3d8ca36/w/bb06f340a3cffe362f2761a4/e/ef43ed62343302d7ac115902
Intended to catch minor over fillings before gas runs into the cabin.
My plane is not yet complete, so I can't promise it works too great. I'll probably tweak after my plane is flying. You should print this in TPU which is a flexible/fuel resistant plastic.

LED navlight mounts
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2508987
LED nav light mounts intended to fit the sonex wingtip. Two versions: Whelen Orion (originally made for Bryan) and AeroLED Pulsar NXP (for my plane). Thanks to Kerry at Sonex for answering my question about what is the Sonex dihedral...

Flap handle
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2508995
A handle that fits over the standard aluminum flap handle to make things look a little more finished. I recommend printing in one of the wood PLA composites.

Taildragger Waiex in progress, tail done, wings done, about to mate wings to fuse,
then cowl, canopy, paint (photos): flush rivets, turbo aerovee, acro ailerons
(I built my RV7A and happily flew it for about 500 hrs)
