CANOPY BRACE

Postby david.2.wilcox » Wed Sep 07, 2016 4:29 pm

The canopy on my Sonex is quite flimsy and I always need to push and pull to get the hook tabs to engage. To remedy this, I have added a cross brace on the foward bow. It's not very elegant, but it worked. The brace is an aluminum tube with half of a turnbuckle on each end. With the canopy closed, I twist it to fine tune the fit. The tube also makes an nice wrist support while adjusting stuff.

David,

I would be concerned about that brace being a safety hazard in an accident or harming the occupants if the canopy opens in flight.

What about a very small brace or reinforcement right in the center? Or a more robust rear brace as a few others have done?
