Attached is a Special Airworthiness Bulletin drawing attention to a recent mid-air in Alaska where it is believed a contributing factor was the lack of AURAL traffic alerts from the ADSB-IN.

With so many of us flying ADSB-OUT units that may or may not have IN functionality and with the IN being displayed on the likes of an iPad - rather than installed equipment - the actual TSO being referenced may not be strictly applicable. But there IS an applicable lesson about having AURAL traffic alerts enabled on your set up if you are able to do so.

I have aural traffic conflicts enabled on my MGL Explore iEFIS system. I find it really useful. The area I fly in is fairly crowded, and even then there aren't so many messages that it's annoying. An example message is: "Traffic 11 o'clock high"
