IAS Calibration Tool

Postby XenosN42 » Fri Sep 18, 2020 5:23 pm

One task to perform during Phase 1 testing is to calibrate the plane’s indicated airspeed (IAS). There are many articles on the net describing how to perform this task.

On Sept 30th an updated version of the ‘Flight Data Viewer’ (https://JASFlyer.com) will be released that includes a tool which simplifies and automates IAS calibration. Here is sample analysis from a calibration run: https://jasflyer.com/CabinHeat/Sample%20IAS%20Calibration.pdf This tool can be used with data from an MGL, Garmin, Dynon, or GRT EFIS. ( The device must have an OAT sensor. )

The ‘Flight Data Viewer’ features many other tools to help analyze your engine and flight parameters. A good example is the tool to analyze take off performance. View the demo video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mpSuvhGlC4&feature=youtu.be

Take a look. If you have any ideas for new analysis tools let me know. The IAS calibration tool was an idea suggested by a current user.
