I guess this explains why the ELT I sent back to Ameri-King a few months ago for warranty repair hasn't ever come back........
http://www.avweb.com/avwebflash/news/FA ... 829-1.htmlWhat is everyone installing to comply with ELT certification requirements now? I'm apparently out the $200 I spent on my defective ELT, not sure if it's worth chasing that money down.

Hard to beat this:
http://www.pilotshop.com/catalog/avpage ... aQodv5cNqAThey have come down a bit in price since I purchased mine about 6 years ago. I have no complaints with it in my RV-10.

ARTEX ELT-345 $549 not cheap but looks like a good dependable unit. This is the one I'm considering using.
Interested to hear if anyone has found something better in the price range.

I just purchased an ACK E-04 for my waiex - it seems great and the price is right. I previously used an ACK E-02 (only 121.5 mhz) and it worked great the years I had it.

Purchased an ACK E-04 back when first became available, Messed up by reversing two wires on GPS data link from GRT Sport SX, ACK replaced it at no charge. Hard to beat that kind of support. About to order new battery as first has reached the 5 year mark.

Warning. Your mileage may vary, but my ACK ELT has never functioned correctly. I have sent it back twice for service and they send it back saying it's fine. I plug it into the remote head and the little red light flashes constantly until it drains the battery. I once had the unit actually go off at 2:00 in the morning while I was in bed. I got a call from the Air Force asking if I was OK, and then to shut the thing off. I went to the airport and it was in the proper "Armed" (not "On") position. So I had to remove the battery to get it to stop sending a signal. Buyer beware.

Old thread, but I just got around to updating my blog regarding the replacement of my defective Ameri-King AK-450. I hope at this point nobody is considering any Ameri-King products.
http://www.rynoth.com/wordpress/waiex/2 ... placement/TL:DR I went with an Artex ELT-345
