Open Flight Solutions

The September 2019 issue of Sport Aviation has an article on something that has caught my interest.

It’s a modular iPad based EFIS and EMS. Their website and YouTube videos make me think we have reached a point where this is viable for experimental.

Just purchased an AMAZING avionics package for about $6,500 for my eXenos project. The new name of Open Flight Solutions is Falken Avionics. My panel will look like a Tesla in that most traditional modules will be behind the panel:

- Single 12.9 iPad Pro
- Motor display from Zero Motorcycles
- Ventilation manifold. No round vent noisemakers.
- No or minimal buttons or switches. RFID key switch: No key. Just get near the eXenos to activate it.
- Throttle lever is a potentiometer. No mags, fuel or starter.
- Electronic circuit breakers behind the panel.
- Price above Includes Air Data, AHRS, EFIS, Nav, ADSB Out and In and VHF radio
