Hi all,
As i wrap up this years week at oshkosh2019, just some thoughts .
I stopped by the faa safety center near the tower, had good discussions with many fine faa folks in there. I told them i missed working with them as a team effort. They put us controllers out to pasture no later than age 56.
What i got from them confirmed my reading in daily accident report reading.
OUT OF FUEL accidents. WOW!
One of the ICON A5 aircraft coming to eaa this year crashed into the trees at PWK palwaukee chicago executive airport. OUT of fuel into the trees.
My father leases a spot in his hangar northern michigan to a doctor with a cardinal RG.
yep, a few months ago the pumps at the local airport were not working, he took off anyway.
Where do out of fuel aircraft end up ? usually about a one mile final.
Sadly , i hope this is not the case woth a barron N8910U that was at this years convention and was flying back to KSTS. A member of our local eaa chapter124. when i worked the tower at STS early 90’s
Damon was a student pilot and had stopped by the tower a few times. His wife and son also perished.
See http://www.kathrynsreport.com july 24. The Santa Rosa paper had a big article about the crash.
I think all of sonoma county is in mourning.
You may want to add some extra fuel capacity.
