Routes to Crossville (ASA)

Postby daleandee » Wed Sep 10, 2014 11:26 pm

Perhaps this is a bit premature ...

Not certain yet what day I want to arrive as I had considered Thursday to help the crew set up for the event, if they need the help and I can get the day off. Otherwise I would be leaving out on Friday morning. Will be flying over towards Dublin GA from SC and then up through the valley into Crossville. Hopefully to arrive before noon.

Anyone else coming this way and want to meet up and fly a gaggle into ASA?

Hey Dale,

I'll be working through Thursday evening but have Friday off. I'll be coming down from the north so I'm heading down from the opposite direction. Hope to meet you there!

so Dale are you still planning to fly to Crossville? I am planning on leaving tomorrow but might consider waiting for you if you are. I am coming from NC (45 minutes north of Wilmington) and I'm sure we could meet up somewhere along the way. Feel free to call or text me if you want. Nine-1-zero-five-4-five-niner-4-three-6

Hi Eric,

That is (was) my hope. I had another builder/pilot that was going to ride up with me. But the weather isn't looking very promising. I'm pretty sure I can get over to Dalton Georgia but going up through the valley won't be possible if the cloud cover is as low as it is currently forecast to be. Beyond that it appears that Crossville will be getting some rain for the weekend on Friday and Saturday although there appears in the forecast a window open on Sunday morning for departures ... if that holds.

If the forecast doesn't change I'll be there ... but it will be with the wipers and headlights on. I try to live by the rule that says ... "there are too many good days to have to fly on a bad one." I've flown up three times and last year the returning weather was interesting to say the least. To answer your question ... I won't know exactly what my decision is until I call for a briefing on Friday morning.
