Hangar home at T25

So it’s time to share some exciting news - my wife and I bought a lot at an airpark and have begun the process of building a home to move into permanently.

My wife, Brenda, finished her Sport Pilot certificate in February in our 1945 Aeronca Champ - hand prop, old school. My Sonex checks all the boxes for fun flying….I can keep my current job and move anywhere, so….

I had been looking for years to locate an airpark that checked all my personal criteria, and this past winter we found it at T25 - Aero Estates in Texas. We bought a vacant lot and have begun the insanity of building a custom hangar home where the hangar space is larger than the living area.

We hope to move there for good in about a year.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at Oshkosh this year, where I am again writing for AirVenture Today all week. A dream come true - the airpark home and writing for EAA at Oshkosh!

You will miss the cold, traffic and taxes though.

I'd like to pop in when it's done so you can tell me what to do and not do when building a hangar home.

Congratulations Robbie and Brenda!

Thanks everyone!

We will have enough room in the hangar for another Sonex or Waiex visiting, and a spare bedroom if you want to stay overnight!

My guesstimate is this is going to take the better part of a year, so our goal is to move in June 2024.

Congratulations to you and your wife, Robbie. My wife and I bought a home/hangar on an airpark in northern California about 12 years ago. While it's certainly not utopia, the positives exceed the negatives and as a pilot/aircraft owner, its an experience to be had like no other. Hope everything goes smoothly for you during the building process and beyond...........
