Routing of hydraulic brake lines

For those of you who have installed hydraulic brakes with the hand grip lever I am curous as to how you routed your brake lines. I am trying to find a nice way top get them from the firewall to the hand grip lever. The problem is that the spar box is in the way. Did you just run it up and over the spar box? If so, do they get in the way of the rudder cables or when you are sitting in the seat?

Hi Keith,

In the photo linked below you can see that my lines are run through the bottom of the spar tunnel using grommets to protect the line. But you will also notice some "wiring troughs" that allows the battery wiring (Cleanex battery is in the tail) and strobe wiring to pass under the spar also. Either route will work but this is just to show that there is room under the spars on each end to run the lines:

Hope this helps,

That helps alot. I didn't think they could go that far inboard and still clear the spars but since it works for you I guess it can. I also like the idea of the pods you have for the battery cables. Do you mind sharing what you used to make those pods and maybe some pictures of what they look like from the outside?

Hi Keith,

Here's a couple of pages from my builder's log that show how these are done:

Thanks for the pictures. They help alot. I now have to decide if I want to make the pass through pods or just try and route everything through the spar box. I don't have battery cables but I have a comm antenna, elt control wires, trim control, and the brake lines all that need to get from one side of the box to the other.
