Rivet Rattle Noise

I just started on a Onex tail assembly and have no previous experience with aircraft building. After riveting the control surface rid to the rudder drive horn to produce the rudder drive horn assembly, I could hear a rattle noise coming from one of the rivets which I couldn't isolate. Fearing a bad rivet I removed all of them, put in new rivets, and got the same rattle noise. Is this common for pop rivets?

That's normal - you will hear some rattling from the rivets. As I mentioned in my other post - contact tech support when you aren't sure!

You could potentially do more harm drilling out and re-setting rivets when it may not be needed....

Thanks, Robbie. I'm hesitant to contact tech support as a newbie with what most might consider a dumb question. But I'll take advantage of the service they offer in the future for the big questions.

The rattle is probably the mandrel head rattling around in the mushroomed head of the rivet. Since its sheared off during pulling, it has done its job and now it just wants to annoy you. If it bugs you, punch the edge of the mushroom to silence it or squeeze it with pliers. Or wear ear plugs or turn the music louder in your shop.
