Hi Isaac,

Nice blog, I'm sure it will help out a few future builders.

I wanted to comment on one item in your newest post.

I went through each instrument, adding back in their fuses to complete the circuit and it everything worked perfectly except for the transponder and its encoder. Its an old analog model so there was not really any feedback when I turned it on. It didn't have any flashing lights or beeps or any way of knowing if it was working. So I'll just have to wait to test that when I can call up ATC and ask them if they see my transponder signal and altitude encoding.

Please check FAR 91.413. Here is a link to page with the rules: http://www.faa-aircraft-certification.com/91-413-transponder-test.html

Having your transponder checked is usually a fast operation. (Mine just past it's bi-annual check two days ago.) Most avionics shops can do it. My last check cost $110. The technician will place a box over the transmit antenna and check for power output, and also check to see that your altitude encoder is accurate enough for VFR flight.

If you can't have it checked before first flight just make sure that it is turned off until you can fly to an airport with an avionics shop. I had to do that with my new OneX, but fortunately the shop was 24.5 miles from my home airport, so within my phase 1 flight testing area.

Enjoy the rest of your build.

BTW - The 'Flight Data Viewer' will support GRT EFIS within a month or so. It is a powerfull tool to help during phase 1 testing. https://www.JASFlyer.com
