Engine Center Line Aligment

How close have people determined to be "Good enough" for rigging the engine position to the fuselage? I am dead-nuts on for the vertical and forward measurements (referenced from the bottom of the fuselage) but about 3/16" off from center-line measured at the tip of the spinner. How much fiddling have people made in this regard before moving forward with the cowling installation?

3/16 pointed which direction? If it's to the right (Jabiru engine rotation), it might just be a good thing!

I don't recall sweating these measurements at all and I fly pretty straight...

Kip, it is to the right, and I had the same thought as you - might actually help the p-factor somewhat. But what was making me nervous was how easy things would line up with the cowl. So yesterday I went through the hassle of pulling the engine and installed two of the provided Jabiru engine mount spacers (see photo). After re-checking the alignment, it took out about half of the right bias (it is now about 3/32" to the right). I am just going to call it good and keep going.

Cool. Fitting the cowl will be no problem. I'd say one could be 1/4 inch off and still have it fit, maybe more.

On the cowl halves, I noticed that there is only about 1/8" of breathing room side to side, but about 3/8" extra room up and down. I assumed this was to give more clearance for high-g maneuvers. Overall.. I am a little disappointed with how much "extra" there is around the cowl. I feel like i will be using the factory trim lines around the spinner opening. I would have really liked to have a fat extra inch or two to trim back.
