Sometimes as a scratch builder you just have to walk away from it and have a beer!
Spent hours trying to get the out board aileron rib to fit correctly, must of went through 3 different cuts on templates, got very close a few times but no cigar, finally had enough and called it the day after much frustration set in, tidied up the work area, took a nice shower and look forward to round two....not tomorrow lol

That rib is pretty tricky. As I recall, cutting the aileron there is tricky too. Despite having the wing kit, I still ended up tracing the end of the aileron and making my own outboard ribs.

Very similar part to the elevator, and I had a heck of a time getting that to work. Ended up doing that rib 3 times, but who's counting :)

Whats the going rate on one pound of 6061 aluminum these days? I got a nice booger box full of scrap Id like to recycle lol

So true................Spoke to Tony Spicer years ago He said, "He built 3 airplanes, 2 were in the dumpster.........aluminum was cheaper back then lol

During my build, I messed up a rather expensive part for the second time. Put everything away and walked away for 6 months. Sometimes a man has got to know his limitations.

Don't beat yourself up. Building my Waiex I had to replace one ruddervator that mysteriously "warped itself" during drilling and clecoing. I didn't do it! LOL
Same replacement ruddervator got caught up in the polisher and threw itself into my sheetrock in the garage. Not my fault. It was the defective polisher.
Riveted up the fuselage sides before getting the tunnel completed. Completely not on me! Someone read the plans to me incorrectly.
Building airplanes is like our national politics. Never accept responsibility for what you can blame on the opposing team.
The scrape pile of metal makes you look like your really someone special that gets things done.

I was scared shitless cutting out the ailerons hoping I did it right after viewing it numerous times on the plan and others on the web lol
